The NSGConnect Mentor Program promotes a professional and social platform connecting members across all career stages, positions and specialties in networking, career development and exploring new roles to enrich the profession.
Who can participate?
NSGC members can sign up to be a mentor, mentee or both! Mentorship is a great way to network with others in your profession and seek guidance in areas such as developing your leadership skills, advancing in your career and exploring a career change.
How do I connect with a mentor/mentee?
Mentees can search for mentors who can provide advice on specific topics, including leadership opportunities, faculty appointments, moving to a private practice, patient advocacy, thesis development and more! Mentees and mentors may also connect based on their specialty to share specialty-specific knowledge and experiences.
Who can be a mentor?
Whether you are an experienced genetic counselor looking to pay it forward, someone who has successfully worked through a career transition, or a newer genetic counselor who wants to share lessons they have learned in their own professional development, you have the knowledge and experience to be a mentor!
What is the time commitment?
NSGConnect allows you to drive the pace of your relationship. You can opt to speak with someone once or plan to meet monthly or quarterly.
