Membership Types
NSGC memberships are based on the calendar year/NSGC’s fiscal year, January 1 – December 31.
All new memberships (except students) will incur a one-time only, non-refundable application fee of US $15.
All NSGC memberships are All-Access memberships! With All-Access membership, any and all SIGs are included in membership dues. For additional information about joining SIGs please view this document.
Full Member – $305
Genetic counselors who have graduated from an accredited genetic counseling training program. Full Members receive all member benefits, have voting rights, can hold office and serve on committees.
Associate Member – $264
Healthcare professionals with an interest or focus in genetics and genomics. Associate Members have all privileges of full members except they may not vote, or serve on the Board of Directors, or as Chair of a committee.
New Genetic Counselor Member – $213
Special membership for those who graduated from an accredited genetic counseling program within the last 2 years. New Genetic Counselor Members receive all the same member benefits as Full Members, but are eligible for a discounted membership fee for up to 2 years, as a newly graduated genetic counselor.
Student Member – $50
Special membership for students currently enrolled in an accredited genetic counseling training program. International Students, please see this FAQ document, developed by NSGC's International Special Interest Group. Student Members receive all of the same privileges as Associate Members, with the exception that Students may not post to NSGC's General Discussion Forum or access the Journal of Genetic Counseling.

Emeritus Member – $135
Special membership for retired genetic counselors in good standing of NSGC for a minimum of 15 years. To join NSGC as an Emeritus Member please contact the NSGC Executive Office at (312) 321-6834.
After your application is reviewed, you will receive an Annual Dues and Membership Information Form as well as a Code of Ethics. After your dues have been received and processed, you will be awarded all the benefits of your membership category.
*Dues payments to NSGC, classified by the IRS as a 501(c)(6) not-for-profit organization, are not deductible as charitable contributions for federal income tax purposes. However, they may be deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code subject to restrictions imposed as a result of lobbying activities. NSGC estimates that the nondeductible portion of your 2025 dues is 33%. The nondeductible amount (33%) is calculated by dividing total NSGC lobbying expenditures by total dues income (excluding all other income).
