DESCRIPTION
Genetic medicine and genetic technology are constantly evolving, and genetic counselors are experts in genetic testing, which requires continual learning and acquiring new knowledge. This course will give participants an overview of newer technology and testing platforms as well as discuss how these advances are currently affecting clinical care. We will discuss what data is available to support the use of these new technologies, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of these technologies. Additionally, we will discuss the ethical ramifications of these new technologies (such as equity to access). This course will be appropriate for specialty counselors in these areas as well as learners who want to know more about the future of genetic testing and management.
